Whoops! We’ve been so busy with the renovation of our glassworks that we’ve let the housekeeping go a little. Take 30% off EVERYTHING in our Centralia store during the demo and reno! We’re growing!

When Central GlassWorks opened its doors for business in October of 2005, we had barely any glass in the gallery, a very small staff, and very modest equipment. But with the ongoing support and encouragement of our community, we’ve been growing! We now have six employees, hundreds of items to choose from for purchase, and multiple ways to get involved and make art yourself. We’re very excited to tell you that we’re expanding even further this spring!

We’ve purchased equipment to double our studio space and class load. New furnaces, glory holes, annealers, benches, and more will be making their way to us in just a matter of weeks! You can expect a complete closure of our studio space and a brief closure of our gallery space as we renovate our building and make some very exciting changes. But don’t worry, we’ll be up and running again within a few months and our class line-up will be better than ever. We promise.

Our last day of glassblowing for the spring is this Saturday, so stop in and say hello! For questions about store hours, classes, or anything else, don’t hesitate to call us at (360)-623-1099.

Hooray! A SALE!

We’ve had a scary couple of days at the glassworks. The historic building across the street caught fire and has been demolished. Things are finally getting back to normal around here after the fire. To celebrate, we’re having a serious sale! Call the fire department, our prices are HOT.

This week only, take 40% off EVERYTHING in our Centralia store. That’s right- vases, drinkware, even carved work. This is the first time we’ve held a sale this big. The sale ends on the 26th, so hurry in!

tis the season

It’s that time of year again! Things really get hopping during fall and winter at Central GlassWorks. Our classes are up and running and the pumpkins are rolling out of the annealer and into the hands of customers faster than we can get them made. Pretty soon all the staff will be sick of tagging ornaments… I love this season! We’ve got a lot of new colors lined up for fall so make sure and stop in to see what’s new. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find yourself as excited for the holidays as we are.

Slumping workshops keep things cool.

While it may still be rainy and cold here during July in Washington, it is always hotter inside the hotshop than it is outdoors and so we keep the furnace off until fall. In lieu of our regular program of glassblowing workshops and classes we’ll be hosting a glass slumping session on August 6th.

Kids heat up the studio just in time for Mother’s Day.

We had a fantastic session of our glassblowing workshops for kids today with a robust turnout of fourteen students. The kids (ages 7-14) kicked off the workshop by creating suck bowls in their choice of colors and then concluded the class with a series of paperweights. I wonder if any of the creations made today will end up becoming Mother’s Day presents? I know I’d be happy to receive one from my children!

‘Art of Drinking’ to be featured at Olympia Arts Walk

Central Glassworks will be participating in Olympia Arts Walk for the third year. We will be presenting a series titled “The Art of Drinking “- a collection of child cups, pitchers, and pilsner glasses for adults.
